Fire in the Swamp 2012
Larry House of Dragons Watch Forge & Foundry will be hosting the 4th Fire in the Swamp on Sat-Sun, Mar 24-25, at his shop in Picayune MS. Fire in the Swamp is a fire based art show. That is to say the art is created using fire in the process.
This year they will be casting pewter, aluminum and iron. There will also be forging demonstrations as well as pottery (Raku) firing. This event is open to any with an interest in displaying or demonstration their art, or learning about a fire art. Information and registration can be found here.
Blacksmith Instruction
GCBA has adopted the ABANA Forging Fundamentals Controlled Hand Forging Lessons as our guide in teaching the science and art of blacksmithing to our members.Our experienced members will serve as volunteer instructors for each of the 26 lesson plans, and we hope to teach one lesson at each meeting.
GCBA has purchased 15 copies of Randy McDaniel's A Blacksmith Primer: A Course in Basic and Intermediate Blacksmithing, now available for member use or purchase.
